How many sessions will I need?

This depends on your individual condition and could be affected by your age, constitution and general state of health. Treatment is often cumulative. A minor complaint may see improvement after one or two sessions. Long term chronic issues may take longer to see improvement. I usually suggest having 4 sessions and then reviewing. Some patients chose to have ongoing maintenance treatments once every 6 to 8 weeks.

How should I prepare for my appointment?

It is best to wear comfortable loose-fitting clothes. It depends on the condition being treated as to what area of the body will need to be exposed, however modesty and comfort will be protected at all times.

It is advisable to have a light meal prior to treatment and to stay well hydrated. Also try to avoid alcohol on the day of treatment.

Acupuncture should not be painful and most people report a slight tingling, numbness or heavy sensation at the site of needle insertion which indicates the body has registered the needle. However, some people don’t feel anything and are so relaxed they fall asleep during treatment!
